Some members of the Woodbury County Supervisors are expected to encourage fellow board member Jeremy Taylor to resign at Tuesday’s board meeting. His wife Kim Taylor was convicted last week on voter fraud charges.

A federal jury convicted Taylor's wife, Kim, on 52 counts of voter fraud. Government prosecutors characterized her actions as a scheme to stuff the ballot box for her husband. Taylor ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination for a U.S. House seat in the 2020 primary. He won election to the board of supervisors that fall.

Board President Mathew Ung, and board members Dan Bittenger and Mark Nelson have released statements calling for Taylor’s resignation.

Bittenger says he regrets that the board needs to address the conviction of Kim Taylor, but it inevitably affects her husband as well.

“Trying to have a really high standard of ethics and conduct for the board of supervisors, and that’s something that we want to make sure that we protect and guard. And it is kind of a shame that we have been asked to make a statement, but we can’t shy away from leading, we can’t shy away from having to make a call with the information that we have.”

Bittenger added that it is really is up to the county attorney to take any action to remove a supervisor from the county board.

“If there is anything that the county attorney thinks would warrant any further investigation or any further looking into, you know that’s upon the county attorney and the legal apparatus. So that’s not anying the board can do or even force anyone out.”

Board member Keith Radig has yet to comment on Taylor’s status on the board.

The Woodbury County Democratic Party is also urging the all-GOP board to "move on from Jeremey Taylor’s serial dramas."
