On May 14th, South Sioux City community members voted against a $127 million bond to improve the South Sioux City School District facilities.

The endeavor marked one of the largest school bond proposals in Siouxland history put before voters in a school district.

Lance Swanson, Director of Communications, told Siouxland Public Media, “Our Board of Education and district leadership are continuing to assess feedback from the community and will take time to thoughtfully consider how best to move forward in support of our students and schools."

Enrollment of the school district is expected to grow from 3,800 to about 4,300 students within the next 10 years.
