New Coronavirus cases continue to show up in Iowa and Woodbury County. Iowa today has 307 new cases, and 21, 918 statewide and reported six new deaths for a total of 607.  Woodbury County has added 17 cases of COVID-19, for a total 2, 931 and 37 deaths, but no new deaths today.

South Dakota reported three new deaths from COVID-19 today, and 52 new cases, according to the Department of Health. The state has had 68 deaths from COVID-19 and 5,523 cases of the virus,

Nebraska has 15,752 cases of COVID-19, including 118 today, and  188 deaths due to the coronavirus.

An Iowa economic official is testifying this afternoon before a U.S. Senate panel about critical troubles that are hurting efforts to jumpstart the state and national economies, according to Radio Iowa.

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley is chairing the Finance Committee hearing that will feature IWD director Beth Townsend. Grassley says the committee is going to focus on the problem that developed as a result of payouts from the CARES Act exceeding what many workers would get for a paycheck.  Grassley says the Congress set up $600 dollars in additional unemployment insurance above whatever the 50 states would pay in their respective states.

Grassley says there are ideas circulating about how to remedy this problem, but no solutions are nailed down as yet.
