Siouxland Plastic Surgeon Dr. Adam Smith Will Again Go Before State Medical Board

101718 304

A hearing with the Iowa State Medical Board and a Sioux City Plastic Surgeon has been postponed. A hearing before the board is being rescheduled at the request of Dr. Smith. A new date hasn’t been set yet.

The Iowa State Medical Board says Dr. Adam Smith failed to provide appropriate care to 17 patients from December 2014 to September of 2017.

Dr. Smith told Siouxland Public Media News after the medical board action in July, he expected to be vindicated.

(Several former patients contacted Siouxland Public Media to say Dr. Smith didn’t provide them with proper medical care.)

A malpractice lawsuit involving Dr. Smith was moved to Dickinson County District Court.  The jury ruled in his favor.

Smith is also accused of filing false Medicare and Medicaid claims while practicing in Michigan.  The Federal investigation continues in that case.

And, during a meeting with local leaders to discuss homeless in Sioux City yesterday, the CEO of the Boys and Girls Home, Art Silva, offered to donate the organization’s property on Court Street to the city.

The Boys and Girls' home is currently building a new campus in the Indian Hills area of Sioux City.

Lee Enterprises has named Chad Pauling publisher of the Sioux City Journal and its associated publications.

Pauling, who previously served as the Journal's retail and digital advertising director, had served as interim publisher since former publisher Ron Peterson retired in June.
