Mask Requirements and Preparing for a COVID-19 Vaccine: The Exchange

This week on The Exchange, we talk about mask mandates in school and in Sioux City. It’s been almost a month since Iowa’s Governor issued a partial mask mandate for public spaces. We will talk about enforcing mask mandates, hear from Sioux City’s Police Chief Rex Mueller on the issue, and find out if anyone has faced legal action for not wearing a mask.

Also today we hear from a longtime teacher in Sioux City, who is also a union liason, about how educators and students are dealing with coronavirus restrictions and masks in schools.  Several schools have had to shut down in-person classes and one middle school in Sioux City had to go virtual for two weeks.

We will also talk with The Chief Medical Director at MercyOne Siouxland, Dr. Larry Volz, about the surge in coronavirus cases, hospitalizaitons, stress levels and advice on stopping the spread of COVID-19.

Dr. Bernice Hausman, Penn State University

And wth a COVID-19 vaccine likely to be distributed soon to some high-risk Iowans, we talk about fears related to vaccines.  Dr. Bernice Hausman of Penn State University  has written a book about the anti-vaxxer movement.

And finally, how to throw a Zoom-based holiday event.  We speak with corporate trainor and conflict resolution specialist Priya Parker.  She's written a new book called, The Art of Gathering.  Parker says the important thing to remember is: Zoom is not the host-you are!
