With temperatures dropping below ten degrees, Shayla Moore the director of Sioux City’s Warming Shelter told Siouxland Public Media News that the Warming Shelter’s weather contingency has gone into effect. The contingency allows the shelter to welcome more people.

To cope with the influx of people, additional sleeping arrangements have been added to the day shelter.

Additionally, people who have previously been banned will be allowed to stay as long as they are “willing to be safe”.

Overnight temperatures are expected to stay below ten degrees until Saturday.
