MercyOne today announced the launch of it a military and veterans health care program. There are more than 180,000 veterans now living in Iowa, not including those currently serving their country through the guard or reserves.

MecyOne’s Jessica Hanson said today the initiative will provide high quality, compassionate and culturally competent care to military service members, veterans and their families.

The beach was supposed to open on Memorial Day weekend. However, low water levels have reduced the zero-entry beach area, causing sudden drop-offs and unsafe swimming conditions, the Woodbury County Conservation Board said on Wednesday.

Additionally, the beach at Brown's Lake-Bigelow Park, near Salix, Iowa, will remain closed until road replacement and park improvements have been completed.

The Iowa Attorney General’s Office will host mobile offices and give presentations around the state this summer to assist Iowans with consumer protection issues, including providing information on how to spot and protect themselves from fraud.

Investigator Al Perales of the Consumer Protection Division can answer consumer questions regarding identifying price gouging, hiring contractors, avoiding scams, and other issues, and can take consumer complaints.

Perales will start the tour Thursday in Independence. He also plans to hold mobile offices and/or presentations in Eldora, Monticello, Dyersville, Lake View, Grinnell, Creston, Sioux City, and Council Bluffs.

Perales will be at the Siouxland Center for Active Generations July 18.
