State economic leaders announced a former Sioux City golf course as a certified location for future industrial development.

The “27 Flags” site is located south of the Sioux Gateway Airport in the Southbridge Business Park.

The city bought the 183-acre golf course almost 11-years-ago for almost one-and-a-half million dollars.

The head of the Iowa Economic Development Authority and Iowa Finance Authority Debi Durham says the certification is a big win for Sioux City.  The state of Iowa launched the Iowa Certified Site Program in 2012 to increase the number of industrial locations ready for project development.

A new report says a March survey of business supply managers is signaling solid economic growth over the next three to six months for nine Midwest and Plains states, including all three Siouxland states.

A few thousand people gathered for a long-time tradition in Sioux City over the weekend.

The “Faces of Siouxland Multicultural Fair” took place at the Sioux City Convention Center yesterday afternoon.

“It’s just a great opportunity to see the different cultures that are Siouxland.”

That’s Karen Mackey, Executive Director of the Sioux City Human Rights Commission.  The group hosted the 28th annual event that featured ethnic food, performers, children’s activities and more.
