School Voucher Bill Opinions; White Privilege; RAGBRAI: The Exchange

This week on The Exchange, we hear from Iowa's Senators on the hearings for former Iowa Governor and US Food and Drug Administration leader Tom Vilsack.  President Joe Biden has chosen the former Democratic governor to take up the USDA post once again. Senator Joni Ernst questioned Vilsack this week and we hear some of that conversation. 

Also, we talk with members of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska as they receive COVID-19 vaccinations.

Also, we hear about the a new Sioux City project to help us understand the meaning and effect of white privilege.  We speak with Sioux City Human Rights Commission Executive Director, Karen Mackey.

And today we hear from public and private school leaders about the controversial school voucher bill before Iowa lawmakers.   We talk with Sioux City Community Schools Superintendent Paul Gausman and the President of the Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools Dr. John Flanery.

Also, RAGBRAI 2021 has announced its route. The ride begins in Le Mars this year.  We speaker with Dieter Drake of RAGBRAI about this year's route and  some of the added safety procedures that will likely be in place this summer to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

We speak with retiring Sioux City Police Captain Lisa Claeys about her many years in law enforcement and how she views issues of equity and racism in the wake of the death of George Floyd last summer.

And we hear another Small Wonder from Jim Schaap.  This week's title is A House Divided.
