More COVID Variants Found in South Dakota

The South Dakota Department of Health today reports that there are now two new COVID-19 variants in the state, as well as an increase in the number of U.K. variants. The state also reported three additional COVID-19 deaths today, as well as 254 new positive infections.  

The new variants include one case of the variant from from South Africa, and five cases of the California variant. They join the 14 UK. variants which have now been found in South Dakota.  More than 228,000 people in South Dakota have received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine.

The Iowa Department of Public Health today reports another six COVID-19 deaths and an additional 633 confirmed cases.  More than 334, 000 people have received  the first of two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in Iowa,  In Woodbury County,  there have been 32 new cases added to the total case count in the last 24 hours. 

Siouxland District Health Department will soon change the venue for its vaccination clinics.  For the month of April, the county will hold those clinics at the Siouxland Expo Center.  So far, the vaccination clinics have been held at the Tyson Events Center, but Parks and Recreation Director Matt Salvatore says there are more events scheduled there starting next month, changing venues just made sense. 

Floyd Valley Healthcare is opening up COVID-19 vaccination clinics to anyone 18 and older, regardless of their county of residence. The Le Mars hospital made the announcement in a statement issued Thursday.
