Early-mid spring is a prime time for people who love growing things.

There are certain things that historically people will say should be planted about Mother’s Day.

There is something about planting things, digging hands into the soil that feels restorative.

Plus it can just be pretty.

So it is the perfect time for a What’s The Frequency show about people with green thumbs, or who at least aspire to have green thumbs.

Discussing that are Lindsay Meylor, a horticulture specialist at Iowa State University-Extension office in Sioux City, plus Ron Bennett, who enjoys all kinds of plantings, and Diane Blankenship, one of the founding members of the Loess Hills Wild Ones group.

They say people who are determined to get good at growing things typically will get good at that, plus some tips.

The three also firmly believe that growing plants can deliver joy and boost mental health.
