The president of the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra is shifting to a new role as president emeritus.
Symphony Executive Director David Gross on Wednesday said Juliet Everist will move to the emeritus role, after serving as president since 2014.
There have been a few dozen symphony presidents, but the 11 years for Everist has been the longest. The Sioux City Symphony Orchestra was created more than 100 years ago.
"Juliet has been a tireless leader for the Symphony, helping to bring the organization to new heights. We are fortunate to have someone so dedicated to the Sioux City Symphony and equally lucky that she will remain an important part of the Symphony family," Gross said in a statement to Siouxland Public Media News.
Richard Kunz will be the new president. The opening performance for the 110th season will be Saturday, September 27 at the downtown Orpheum Theatre.
Symphony Music Director Ryan Haskins said, "“For more than a decade, Juliet has given her heart, energy, and time to the Symphony. Her presidency marked an important chapter, and that spirit continues as the Symphony grows in ambition and reach.”
