There was a groundbreaking Tuesday for the new headquarters of the Sioux Honey Association in Sioux City.
The site is in the south city industrial park at 2431 Expedition Court.
The move comes after six months ago announcing plans for a new corporate office, warehouse and processing complex project of $130 million. A release said the business is poised to become one of the largest honey-processing facilities in the country.
The project will include a 225,000-square-foot warehouse and corporate office, and a 440,000-square-foot production facility,
Back in January, the Sioux City Council approved an economic development assistance contract with Sioux Honey Association, as an incentive for the firm to move forward with its $130 million expansion project.
As part of the project, the company will relocate its California operations to Sioux City, creating 39 new jobs.
The city’s financial support for the project will be funded with Tax Increment Financing.
