Vice President J.D. Vance promoted the administration’s accomplishments on taxes and trade at a rally in Council Bluffs on Friday.
Vance made the campaign stop to support Iowa Republicans in the midterm elections.
He said the Trump administration has made progress for voters by ending taxes on tips and adding an enhanced tax deduction for seniors.
“If you paid into Social Security for your entire life, or you're working 60 hours away from your wife and your kids, your family, then I think we send a simple message. Tell the politicians to keep their grubby hands out of your pocket. Let you keep more of your money,” Vance said.
Vance spent much of his speech stumping for Republican gubernatorial candidate Zach Lahn who is in a tight race with Democrat Rob Sand.
Sand has made moving beyond party politics a focus of his campaign, but Vance calls him a “partisan servant” to Democrats.
Early voting in Iowa starts on October 14.
