Two Iowa representatives in close election races have voted to limit President Donald Trump’s war powers in Iran.
Third District representative Zach Nunn and First District representative Mariannette Miller Meeks joined five other Republicans in voting against their party on Tuesday.
The resolution directs the president to remove U.S. forces from hostilities with Iran unless congress gives authorization.
Both Nunn and Miller Meeks come from military backgrounds and are running in two of the most competitive House races in the country, according to political forecasters.
Fourth District Congressman Randy Feenstra and Second District Congresswoman Ashley Hinson did not vote to limit the president’s war powers.
