During another monthly Salix Iowa City Council meeting in which the possibility of a data center coming to town was discussed, some people were removed from the building for being disruptive.
Also at the Wednesday meeting, Mayor Kevin Nelson and some council members said they will aim to create an ordinance concerning regulations for a data center.
That ordinance could be unveiled in a future council meeting and the public could weigh in on that, KTIV News reported.
The Salix City Council members on August 20 voted not to place a moratorium on the possibility of data centers being built in town. The Google firm in early August announced the company is in the early stages of evaluating a site on the north side of Salix for a data center.
At the July council meeting, people in the audience would speak about their opinions on data center dealings as the council members and other residents were speaking.
The council passed new rules concerning decorum at meetings at the beginning of the Wednesday meeting. Nelson has said his aim is to have a broad discussion of data center issues in council meetings.
