More county governments in Siouxland continue to place moratoriums on the creation of data centers in their county.
The latest to pass such a moratorium is in Emmet County, Iowa, just east of the Iowa Great Lakes area.
That moratorium of one year in length by the Emmet County Board of Supervisors was enacted on Tuesday.
As with many other counties, Emmet County officials will use the year to gather information on the potential benefits and drawbacks of large-scale data centers.
Other Iowa counties with data center moratoriums include Ida, Woodbury, Plymouth and Sioux counties.
