It appears the two nominees for Iowa’s 4th congressional district contest will hold a debate prior to the November election.
In a social media post on Wednesday, Republican Chris McGowan said he met with Democratic opponent Dave Dawson at the Woodbury County fair.
McGowan said when his family has a clearer picture of their upcoming schedule, the candidates will work together to finalize a debate schedule for the fall.
He added, “We reaffirm our respective commitments to running campaigns rooted in respect and civil discourse.”
In his Thursday post, Dawson said while the candidates may disagree on policy issues, they don’t have to be disagreeable with each other.
He said McGowan agreed to his challenge to participate in a debate and looks forward to continuing their discussion again.
