A Sioux City resident who sparked controversy by spray-painting flowers on manhole covers announced his intent to run for mayor.
In a post, Brandon Bradshaw said on Monday he wants to make a positive impact and difference in the community.
“I believe now is the time for me to run for mayor of Sioux City,” said Bradshaw.
Bradshaw added he plans to go to city hall on Tuesday to place his name on the docket.
“Let’s try and make a change for our community, kids, and grandkids,” he said.
Bob Scott, the current mayor of Sioux City, has served in the position for over 20 years, with his current term ending in 2027.
Previously, Bradshaw had been on trial for the flowers he painted throughout the Morningside area.
Community members had shown their support for Bradshaw throughout the whole process of his arrest and trial by sharing a petition for charges to be dropped and asking him to paint flowers for them.
