The Sioux City Council will discuss multiple items regarding the Sioux Gateway Airport in its meeting Monday, including a $10 million contract with Hulstein Excavating LLC.
According to a city memo, there were three bids for the airport’s Tank Warm-Up and Hold Pad project for Iowa’s National Guard 185th refueling wing. Hulstein Excavating, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, had the lowest bid of $10.5 million. Previously, the engineer estimated the cost at $9.7 million.
The project includes installation of concrete shoulders, airfield lighting systems, pavement, and electrical infrastructure along with all related site and demolition work.
Federal funds through a military construction cooperative agreement are expected to cover 100 percent of the costs of the project and be completed within 134 days.
