The Woodbury County Auditor's office announced on Thursday that a special election will be held to fill an open seat on the Salix City Council.
In May, council member Nick Black resigned. However, during the city council meeting Wednesday, Tim Skidmore was appointed to serve on the council until the election.
To be eligible, candidates must live in the city of Salix and file a nomination petition and affidavit of candidacy. The petition requires a minimum of 10 voter signatures.
All completed paperwork needs to be submitted to the County Auditor’s Office by July 24th, 5pm.
The special election will be held on August 18, 2026.
