Over 100 Iowa National Guard members are being deployed on Friday to Washington, D.C.
In May, Governor Kim Reynolds announced that 120 Iowa soldiers are being deployed to assist with public safety, communications, and the America250th celebrations.
Previously, Reynolds said the soldiers will be operating under Title 32, 502(f), which says their deployment is funded by the federal government.
The soldiers will be stationed in D.C. for the next six months.
A private send-off ceremony was held Friday morning for the soldiers.
