Democratic governor nominee Rob Sand made his first Northwest Iowa campaign stop after the June primary, as he competes towards the November election
Sand spoke on Thursday to several dozen people in a Monona County town hall at the Onawa Public Library in Onawa.
Bipartisan cooperation is a repeated Sand campaign message, as he contends key problems in Iowa are not being addressed.
He spoke on priorities in a room with signs that cite “Not Redder and Bluer, Better and True,” which match the Sand ads that say he wants to gather all stripes of voters.
Sand is currently the Iowa state auditor. He also made stops in Harrison and Shelby counties on his Thursday swing.
Zach Lahn is Sand’s Republican opponent.
In a statement to Siouxland Public Media news, Lahn Campaign official Meg Deneen said, "Billionaire liberal Rob Sand is a fraud, and Iowa voters have rejected every major left-wing position he supports, no matter how hard he tries to hide them behind carefully staged town halls."
Republican Iowa governor Kim Reynolds is not seeking re-election.
