The Sioux City Council approved the purchase of land for an apartment development project in its meeting Monday.
According to a memo, Outer Banks Apartments LLC plans to construct a new apartment complex on the property. The property is located at 1171 Outer Drive North and 4205-4209 Denise Court.
The apartment complex will include 11 apartment buildings, 4 garage structures, and a total of 138 units.
Additionally, the developer plans to move the detention basin and enlarge it to serve both their development and the homes on Fremar Drive.
The memo says, Outer Banks Apartments will be responsible for replacing the stormwater drainage and detention system and take over future maintenance from the city.
The project is expected to cost about $16 million and be completed by December 31, 2028.
