New sculptures will be unveiled along the sculpture trail just west of the Pearson Lakes Art Center in Okoboji.

A special event will take place for the unveiling of the sculptures Thursday evening on the trail, from 5pm to 7pm, as first reported by Explore Okoboji.

The sculptures will replace the previous figures as part of a plan to rotate sculptures to freshen the look for trail users.

Danielle Clouse Gast, visual arts director for the art center, said seven new artists from across the country will have their art displayed on the trail.

Clouse Gast said public art displayed in nature is a unique experience to enjoy.

Last year, seven sculptures were added to about a half mile of the trail as part of a project called the Sculpture Trail Loop. Previously officials said the project was modeled on similar trails in Sioux Falls and Mason City.
