Three Sioux City residents have applied for the open seat for the Sioux City School Board.
People who applied for the position include Paul William Rhodes, Dr. Amy DeGroot-Hammer, and Jebediah Hibbs.
Rhodes is the South Region Director for Siouxland Youth for Christ, a non-profit organization.
DeGroot-Hammer currently serves as Sioux City’s Uniserv director for Iowa State Education Association. She has also previously worked in the school district as a counselor.
Hibbs is a Navy veteran who is involved with the school district and his wife teaches in the school division.
In November Hibbs unsuccessfully ran for the school board and attempted to fill the vacancy left by Jan George.
The school board vacancy was created by the resignation of member Lance Ehmcke in May. Ehmcke left due to health issues.
Jan George also left the school board in mid march for the same reasons. The board needs one more member to work at full capacity.
