The Sioux City Symphony Orchestra has named Samuel Pavel as its new Executive Director, effective today.

Following a national search SCSO Board of Directors, Pavel was selected to succeed David Gross in the executive director position.

He most recently was with Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in Texas, where he served as Vice President of Operations.

The symphony is entering its 111th season amid growing artistic momentum, expanding educational initiatives, and the continued development of the Gilchrist Music Education Center, the symphony release said.

Richard Kunz (Koonz), President of the Board of Directors, said he is impressed by the collaborative spirit that PAHH-Vill holds, which should help connect the musicians, audiences and community.

In a release, Pavel said he is excited to work alongside Symphony Director Ryan Haskins.

The Sioux City Symphony Orchestra will officially welcome Pavel to the Siouxland community during a special public event on June 16, at 11:00 a.m. in the Orpheum Theatre lobby.
