The National Weather Service says 10 tornadoes touched down across Northwest Iowa on Sunday night.

A preliminary report released Wednesday by the agency’s Sioux Falls office shows a line of severe storms produced several tornadoes from the Sioux City area to the Iowa Great Lakes region.

One tornado east of Sioux City was rated an EF-0, with winds reaching up to 85 miles per hour. The strength of the other tornadoes has not yet been determined. Forecasters say some wind gusts in the broader storm system were even stronger.

Woodbury County Emergency Management says 11 homes were destroyed in the county, with most of the damage reported in the town of Pierson.

Severe weather continued into north-central Iowa. The National Weather Service office in central Iowa has not yet released its preliminary storm report.
