The Ida County Emergency Medical Services held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday for its new facility. The new facility will house EMS crews from Ida Grove, Holstein, Battle Creek, Galva, and Arthur.
Ida county didn’t have EMS services until 2021 and serves about 6,800 people.
Corey Trucke, EMS Director, told Siouxland Public Media the facility being used dated to the 1960’s and was completely renovated for about $780,000.
Trucke said EMS services were previously provided through volunteers, but volunteer numbers had dwindled in Ida County. That trend is happening in lots of Siouxland
