The mayor of Sergeant Bluff was arrested late Monday evening after failing a sobriety test for an OWI.
Ron Hanson won his mayoral term in November 2026.
According to court documents, a Woodbury County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested Hanson when seeing a car crossing the center line and drifting off the shoulder of Old Lakeport Road.
After the officer had activated their lights, Hanson continued driving for some time into the oncoming lane of traffic.
Hanson posted bail early Tuesday morning.
