During the Sioux City School Board meeting on Monday Director Lance Ehmcke announced his resignation.
Ehmcke said he is leaving not only the school board, but also Sioux City due to health reasons.
He thanked the community for allowing him this opportunity to serve and that he enjoyed working with the other board members.
Board member Cyndi Hanson thanked Ehmcke for the quality work he has done.
Board President Treyla Lee said she has learned a lot from Ehmcke and that she values his insight.
Ehmcke has served on the school board since November 2023 and is a retired lawyer from the Heidman law firm.
In April, Board member Christian Supiot-Perez was elected to the board to fill the vacancy left by board President Jan George. George said he was leaving due to health issues.
The school board can appoint a new member, unless the public files a petition to hold a special election.
