As all kinds of businesses begin to line up this week for refunds for tariff payments that they paid starting in 2025, Mayor Bob Scott said he expects Sioux City area companies to be applying.

After the tariffs put in place by President Trump were struck down by the Supreme Court, businesses began applying to get their money back.

The U.S. tariff online refund portal launched on Monday.

Scott said he "has to believe there will be” Siouxland firms applying, since they paid duties on an importer’s behalf.

Top officials with the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce are in Washington D.C. for an annual lobbying trip, and not available for comment.

Consumers, who saw higher prices on imported goods, are not eligible to submit claims.

The portal is on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security website, in an address that starts as cpb.gov .

Refunds are expected 60 to 90 days after submitting a request.
