The Sioux City School Board elected Vice President Treyla Lee as the new board president in its meeting Monday.
Director Earl Miller nominated Lee for president of the board. When up for a vote, all of the board members voted in favor of the action, and Lee was sworn into the position.
After electing Lee, directors Earl Miller and John Meyers were nominated for the vice president position.
After multiple rounds of voting, the board decided to table the election for vice president until April 13.
Towards the end of the meeting, Meyers withdrew his name from the nomination, with Miller becoming the new vice president.
Additionally, the board approved Jim Vanderloo’s contract as interim superintendent; it began February 26th and ends June 30th.
Vanderloo’s salary will be $94,122 for the term of his contract, and he has the option to apply for superintendent.
