The Sioux City Parks and Recreation Department announced Friday it has received funds to continue the free swim pass and learn-to-swim programs.
Last week the department had stated it would no longer be able to fund the programs due to changes in federal funding requirements.
In a statement, the department said the programs will continue, noting the reason was due to community support.
According to the statement, a sponsorship initiative that recently started provided enough funding to continue the programs for the upcoming season.
The passes will be available after April 13 on a first-come, first-served basis to residents and the learn to swim program is available for those who are ages 5-14 that meet the eligibility requirements.
Other residents may be eligible for a 20 percent discount card that applies to swim passes, program fees, and pool, tubing, and ice skating admission.
