The Sioux City Council approved plans and the cost of the Big Sioux River Erosion Repair Project in its meeting Monday.

The project includes riverbank clearing, replacement of the drainage outfall structure, and installation of bank erosion protection.

According to a memo, bidding for the project opens Tuesday, and construction will start sometime between April 9th and July 15th, 2026.

The project will be supported by the CIP flood risk reduction and infrastructure protection fund, which has $212,382.46.

The memo says the estimated cost of the project is $182,885.00 and is expected to be completed in August.
