Republicans Flood, Smith seeking re-election to northeast Nebraska congressional districts

Both Nebraska congressmen serving in districts that cover northeastern counties are running for re-election.

Republican Mike Flood, who represents the 1st congressional district, kicked off this re-election campaign in Papillion. He was first elected in 2022 and again in 2024.

Flood said he wants to ensure that Nebraskans can make ends meet economically.

Flood is the only Republican candidate in District 1. Democrats Eric Moyer and Chris Backemeyer are also candidates.

In Nebraska’s 3rd congressional district, longtime Republican incumbent Adrian Smith in January announced his 2026 campaign towards the goal of maintain a strong Republican majority in Congress to advance President Trump’s America agenda.
