The Sioux City Council will discuss a lease proposal and set a public hearing for Mozak’s Furniture in its meeting Monday.

Some businesses on Gordon Drive are impacted by the viaduct reconstruction project, having to vacate their current locations by May 2026, including Mozak’s. The viaduct reconstruction project is expected to begin in July 2027.

According to a city memo, Tim Mozak, owner of the furniture and flooring store, expressed interest in a short-term lease at the former Ashley’s Furniture location at 124 Pierce Street.

A short-term lease would allow Mozak’s to find a more permanent location and provide funds to offset maintenance costs of the building for the city.

The lease would start on March 15th, 2026, and end on October 31st, 2027. Mozak will pay about $15,750 per month for their lease.

If approved, the city council will set a date for consideration and approval of the lease agreement on March 9th, 2026.
