U.S. Senator Mike Rounds announced Thursday that he is running for reelection.
Rounds, a Republican, has previously served as governor and a state senator in the South Dakota Legislature. He was initially sworn into the U.S. Senate in 2015 and was reelected in 2020.
He is a member of multiple committees, including Senate Appropriations, Housing and Urban Affairs, and the Select Committee on Intelligence.
In a video announcing his reelection, Rounds said some of his priorities include strengthening the border, tax cuts, and supporting farmers and ranchers.
Other candidates running for U.S. Senate are Republican Justin McNeal, Democrat Julian Beaudion, and Independent Brian Bengs.
The South Dakota primary election is June 2nd, and the general election is November 3rd.
