Former Nebraska senator Lynne Walz announced Wednesday morning she is running for governor.
Walz, a Democrat, served in the state legislature from 2017-2025 and was chair of the education committee.
According to her website, her priorities include strengthening public schools, lowering the cost of housing and daycare, and cutting taxes.
Walz was known as a bipartisan legislator and won two elections in a heavily republican district.
Although Governor Jim Pillen is up for reelection, he hasn’t officially announced a plan to run.
Republican Sheila Korth-Focken announced her candidacy for governor earlier this month.
The general election is November 3rd.
