The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska announced Thursday that they have waived the fee for tribal identification cards for sixty days starting on the 14th.

Enrolled members are encouraged to obtain or update their tribal ID during the designated period.

According to a post from the tribe, the waived fee was approved to support and protect tribal members during current federal enforcement activities.

The post mentioned tribal IDs will confirm members’ tribal citizenship, but they should also present another form of identification, such as a passport or a state ID.

The Indian Citizenship Act of 1924 granted citizenship to all Indigenous Relatives born within the United States.
