There will be candlelight vigils Thursday evening in Sioux City for a woman who was fatally shot in Minneapolis by an unidentified federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer on Wednesday.

Minneapolis people were on edge following the death of Renee Good, age 37, as part of the Trump administration’s latest immigration crackdown.

There were vigils Wednesday in Minneapolis.

In Sioux City, an event to honor Good was held Thursday afternoon. There will be two more at 6:30 p.m., at First Congregational United Church, and at the Anderson Dance Pavillion on the riverfront Chris Larsen Park.

Sweetgrass Uprising is one of the organizers of the evening city vigil at the pavilion, and people are encouraged to bring candles or lights. A social media post says people will pray for Good, whose “precious life was taken too soon at the hands of ICE.”

NOTE: An earlier version of this story had an incorrect time for the First Congregational United Church event.
