Newly elected City Council Members Craig Berenstein, Rick Bertrand, and Ike Rayford were sworn into the Sioux City council on Friday.

Along with the new members being sworn in, council member Julie Schoenherr was selected as the new mayor pro tem.

Additionally, the council will discuss approving a consulting services agreement with HDR Engineering Inc. for the Bacon Creek Conduit project in its meeting Monday.

The agreement will allow the engineering firm to help complete the BUILD grant application for the project. According to a city memo, the grant application amount will not exceed $35,530.76.

The Bacon Creek Conduit project runs from Rustin Street to Lewis Boulevard and will be reconstructed as a three-cell concrete box culvert.

Prior to submission the grant application will be presented to the council for final approval and must be submitted by February 26th, 2026.
