The Sioux City Council members in their Monday meeting will discuss submitting an application for state funding to help an expansion by the Sioux Honey Association business.
Sioux Honey officials are working to relocate some California operations to Sioux City, which would add 39 jobs onto an already existing 75 jobs.
The project includes purchasing a warehouse, renovating some office space, and constructing a new processing plant and raw goods warehouse. The entire project represents a capital investment of more than $130 million by Sioux Honey.
Sioux Honey is applying for a total of $2.2 million in sales tax refunds, and a $2 million forgivable loan through the Iowa Economic Development Authority High Quality Jobs program.
Additionally, the City of Sioux City could provide a rebate of the new incremental property taxes generated by the development project, and provide an Economic Development Grant of $750,000 to help with the land purchase.
