The Sioux City Council will discuss approving plans and costs for the reconstruction project for 8th Street in its meeting Monday.
McClure Engineering Co. of Sioux City has completed plans and specifications for the reconstruction project.
The project will reconstruct 8th Street from Douglas Street to Jackson Street, as well as install new utilities, including sanitary sewer, water main, and storm sewer. Funding for the project will come from Storm and Water Abated General Obligation bonds and General Obligation bonds.
McClure Engineering estimates the project will cost approximately $2.8 million. If additional funding is needed, it will come from CIP annual infrastructure reconstruction funds.
A public hearing will be held on December 22, 2025, and bids for the project will be received on the 23rd.
The project is expected to start in June 2026 and be completed by December 2026.
