The Sioux City Council, in its meeting Monday, deferred the second hearing of a rezoning ordinance, changing property at 3700 Jefferson Street from commercial to industrial.

Dolf Ivener, owner of the property, requested that the second hearing of the ordinance be deferred for one week. Ivener said he has a couple of other options that he would like time to work on.

Residents of the Leeds community expressed their concerns about the property being rezoned.

One of the residents, Tim Doherty, said rezoning would devalue all the properties along Floyd Boulevard, which connects to the land.

Deb Elkert asked that the council go out to the area themselves before they make their final vote.

When asked how many people at the meeting were against the rezoning, multiple residents raised their hands.
