The Iowa Board of Regents has selected David Cook as the next president of Iowa State University.
Cook was raised in Ames, Iowa, and received his undergraduate degree at ISU. He currently serves as the president of North Dakota State University.
Cook said, “I want to say I am pretty fortunate to be following President Wintersteen, somebody who has done an amazing job; she set the table exactly where the next person can be successful.”
In his public forum, Cook said his top priorities are identifying other forms of funding and building strong relationships not only with the Board of Regents but also with legislators.
He will begin his term on March 1st, 2026.
