Three costumed people were among the estimated 500 people who participated at a No Kings rally in downtown Sioux City on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

People demonstrated in No Kings rallies across the nation and region on Saturday, with an estimated 500 participants in Sioux City, plus in South Dakota there was a rally in Vermillion, and more than 3,000 people in Sioux Falls.

The first such No Kings rallies protesting the agenda of Republican President Trump were held in April, and this time the Sioux City rally drew about 200 more people than the inaugural. People initially began in South Sioux City, then walked to downtown Sioux City, where people carried signs and dressed colorfully at times.

Several people returned for this event after being in the first one.

There were even protests in Iowa areas that Trump won by a wide margin in 2024, including in Jackson County and Clinton County in eastern Iowa. Clinton County former teacher Kerry Notz said the future looks stark, as Trump pushes back on dissent.

Other protests in Iowa were in Ames, Des Moines, Iowa City, and Davenport, where such criticisms as lessened access to health care and the erosion of democracy were aired..

In Sioux Falls, a woman in her 80’s cited a reason that she participated was  "the fact that the military and National Guard are overrunning our cities for no reason.”

Also in Sioux Falls, about 30 people gathered to show support for President Trump, with some holding American flags. Two Trump supporters walked closely by the main rally and were jeered, but there was no altercation.
