The Sioux City NAACP is hosting its annual Freedom Fund Dinner and a public forum this weekend.
Speakers for the events are James Carter, President-Elect of the National Bar Association, and Lance Morgan, CEO of Ho Chunk Inc.
The National Bar Association is one of the oldest and largest organizations of predominantly Black attorneys, law professors, and judges. Carter and Morgan will join NAACP Vice President Linda Santi in a public discussion on how policies impact communities of color.
Santi said that both are well-versed individuals, one a graduate of Howard University and the other of Harvard University.
She also said they will bring valuable perspectives as an African American and as an enrolled member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, respectively, to the conversation.
Proceeds from the Freedom Fund Dinner will go towards scholarships to help high school students going to college.
Tickets are still available for purchase for the Freedom Fund Dinner at the convention center.
