The June E.Nylen Cancer Center in Sioux City has received a $2 million grant to expand treatment capabilities for Siouxlanders.

The grant from the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust was announced in a Tuesday release by cancer center officials.

Nylen Cancer Center Executive Director Krista McCullough said there is an urgent need to upgrade the facility that is now 30 years old,, in order to provide top notch oncology care..

The money will address space constraints, enhance patient and staff safety and position the Nylen Cancer Center for future growth.
