City officials in Sioux Center, Iowa, are preparing to spend $6 million for a series of projects relating to highways, a storm water drainage system and other infrastructure.
The Sioux Center Council in a Tuesday meeting approved borrowing $6.2 million for those projects.
One notable piece involves working with the Iowa Department of Transportation to rebuild U.S. Highway 75 through the center of town as an enhanced four-lane road. That will feature two lanes of travel in each direction, with a center turn lane.
The Highway 75 redesign began with construction in 2023 and the last piece is planned for 2028 on the north side of Sioux Center, near Iowa Highway 18.
Other portions of the $6 million are for infrastructure in the Harvest Heights housing addition on the northeast side of the town located in Sioux County.
